Episode 29 Debian Etch Part 1

Posted in Debian at 5:19 am by ewlabonte

The Lip is under new management. My name is Ed LaBonte and I’ll be taking over for Serge. The first episode (#29) is up and ready for download. This has been a learning experience and that’s reflected in this episode. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but I wanted to get something out after the long delay. I cover Debian Etch, the installation of the basic system using a minimalist method with the netinstall installation cd. Next I install X.org, gnome, and Iceweasel. The format for the podcast is still up in the air and I hope that I can get feedback from listeners to help me make this podcast useful to the community.

I want to thank Serge for letting me use his website and storage space for putting out this podcast.

I wanted to thank you for a great podcast. I have been using Linux for a couple years now. I’m running Ubuntu, Xubuntu, and Puppy on various systems. I have tried a number of other distributions using live cds too.

Your method of doing a minimal install of Debian and building the system up using apt-get is really nice. I have yet to try Debian, but after listening to your podcast I think it will be the next distro that I try out. Please keep up the good work. Even though I have using been Linux for a couple years I find that I am learning a lot from your show.
