Working on a new podcast

Posted in Gentoo at 2:12 pm by bcheever

Hi, I know it’s been a while since Ed or I have done any shows or even posted on here. I wanted people to know that we are still alive. However, we both have just had lot of really important things in life come up right now. I’m working on a podcast for installing Gentoo Linux Beta 2008.0 on a home server that I have.

I only have about 30 minutes worth of content recording so far, so not quite enough for a whole show yet. But I wanted to let you guys know that we are trying.

For those of you that aren’t sure what it’s like trying to get a show out in a timely fashion when there is no pay or sometimes even no thanks involved in it. I welcome you to try doing a podcast :)

– Ben

Ben to the rescue?Thought you were long gone.Sorry to hear Ed is having troubles-I don’t blame him for not doing any new casts.Maybe The Lip should adopt the format of Hacker Public Radio, with many people contributing content[of linux installs of course]?Or maybe that is not workable,I don’t know.Just a thought.

I agree. I’ve never had or try to do a podcast, but I know it’s alot of work and costs i.e hosting fees, buying extra bandwidth and most important time.

Larry serge and both of you did a fine job with this podcast. We know this podcast isn’t going to last forever and ever, so as a fan and like many others we appreciate the time and effort you put into each podcast. Anyway, looking forward to your next podcast.

    – Cheers

Yeah, I want to thank Ben taking up the reins. As far as I’m concerned *anyone* can contribute to this podcast who wants to. Just let me know by emailing us at thelip@gnu-linux.us or even posting on this blog. We’ll arrange something.

By the way, if anyone has had problems getting through to thelip@gnu-linux.us it’s because I inadvertantly let the domain lapse. I’ll get the email back up as soon as I can.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but if you guys continue to run this podcast in idle mode, this podcast’ will eventually die out.

I’m not trying at all to be rude or demanding, etc., but do you think it might be time to see if someone else might like to pick up the podcast?

Ok, what’s going on here? I can’t seem to leave any comments, and the podcast is going nowhere. Should we just drop it from our catchers, or are there some plans in the works to keep it going. I don’t think it’s very fair to the people who have been listening since the inception to not give some sort of indication that you’re still working on this podcast on a predictable basis.

Why don’t you guys just end the podcast if you don’t want to do any more.

I’m sorry, for some reason the comments weren’t getting forwarded to me and I fell behind. I’ve got a hardy heron install that I can put together. I’m had some personal problems that have sapped my motivation for getting the podcast out. I will definitely get that one out soon, and we’ll see how it goes.

It’s good to know you’re still around, Ed. I am wondering why Ben hasn’t been dropping notes to keep us updated. Is he still riding shotgun with you on this?

    Hey Ed!

Is it possible that I could give it a shot at producing podcasts? I will gladly give it a shot, since I install many, MANY different distros all of the time…

    Send me an email!
